In order to implement the memorandum of cooperation with the NAO “Kostanay Regional University named after Akhmet Baitursynov” and the Institution “Kostanay Humanitarian College”, a round table event on the theme “Republic Day is a symbol of the country’s bold step towards statehood” was held at the university. The participants of this event were the teaching staff, employees of state institutions, law enforcement agencies, students.
On this day, October 25, 1990, the declaration of state sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR was adopted. The Declaration laid the foundations for the independence of Kazakhstan’s statehood. Therefore, this day was approved as a national holiday. But in 2009, changes were made, according to which the celebration of the Republic Day in Kazakhstan was canceled. In September of this year, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law “On Amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on cinematography, culture and holidays”, according to which the Republic Day was returned to the status of a national holiday.
Students of the 3rd year of the specialty “Jurisprudence” took part in this event.
